The Shakespeare Society of America
SSA Mission and Public Benefit Programs

William Shakespeare has exhibited positive influence in literature, theatre arts, psychology, philosophy, fine art, history and science throughout the world and has uniquely affected the creativity, hearts and minds of Americans.

The Mission of the Shakespeare Society of America is to: Promote the Value of William Shakespeare in America

Historically, public benefit programs of the SSA have included promotions for the World Shakespeare Congress, International Shakespeare Association, Shakespeare Association of America and the Shakespeare Authorship Roundtable, lectures and panel discussions. In addition, SSA public benefit programs included museum tours, educational presentations and theatre productions for scholars, students, festivities, film and television.

After 35 years, SSA lost the lease on our facility. We are without a permanent home, but that is not stopping us! With your help we are committed to continue to educate and share the SSA Collections through:

A DYNAMIC INTERNET PRESENCE

SSA Public Benefit Programs will offer a variety of experiences to Shakespearean stakeholders around the world. The value of the Internet in spreading knowledge and information will allow us to share our vast collection across the globe.

MOBILE MUSEUM PORTALS

SSA Public Benefit Programs will include use of a mobile museum and library, as well as offer portions of the Collection for display in museum portals.

LIVE PUBLIC BENEFIT PROGRAMS

Diverse Public benefit programs are planned for schools, senior centers, U.S. Armed Forces centers and at risk populations utilizing portions of the SSA Collection.

Programs will display and discuss select SSA Collection items including a variety of books, posters, theatre archive materials, paintings, sculptures and busts. Programs will be educational, entertaining, insightful and engaging. All programs will emphasize personal development, literacy, expression, knowledge and human understanding.
