Shakespeare Relating to history,
culture, literature, theatre and art in
America.
GLOBE LEGACY. In 1973 SSA
Stakeholders designed, built and
operated an authentic 1/2 replica of
Shakespeare ’s 1599 Globe Theatre
interior in the Globe Playhouse in West
Hollywood, CA.
SSA staged Shakespeare’s 38 Plays in
succession two times, 1976-1979 and
1981-1984.
By January 2007 after serving nearly
500,000 guests, SSA had to relocate and
prepare to reorganize, rebrand and
operate in the digital age without a
stage .

RELOCATION. In September 2008 the
SSA relocated to Moss Landing, CA in the
Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
and opened the New Shakespeare Sanctuary
as the center for ongoing Public Benefit
Programs.
